dr. douglas jesse vs. carey reams: computing reserve energy
In 1994 I was fortunate to attend a seminar by Dr. Jesse given in Baltimore Maryland. Jesse had attended one or more classes with Carey Reams and had then blended what he learned there with his career as a successful chiropractor practicing homeopathy "down under."
On the third day I knew I was witness to something important when Jesse identified bodily stress areas in every single class member simply by looking at urine/saliva analysis values. It was uncanny when the subjects verified his claim, but it did not quite reach the mythical heights of those who report that Reams could identify, say, a bruise on one's ankle by telephone from a thousand miles away.
Jesse and I fought on the first day, the second day, and the third day. He said that no amount of good food could possibly cause a client's numbers to more closely approach the ideal. He said that only homeopathy could provide the push, or impetus, to move numbers closer to perfect. I knew better then and I know better now. I say this because I have intently studied thousands of pages of RBTI science and listened to many dozens of hours of Reams lecturing without once hearing that homeopathy made a difference. No, it was---and is---always about diet. However, it was Dr. Jesse's seminar and I shut up.
Dr. Jesse also taught his take on reserve energy. My first impression was joy that someone of his stature had put together a coherent way of calculating RE. He even had a DOS 3.3 program that gave immediate results. However, as I went through the manual computations several times I realized I was dealing with the old "take away so many points for smoking," "deduct points for drug use," or "lower the total X points for surgery" procedure that has been discounted many times by strict Reams adherents. The whole thing gets really sticky when you realize that "balanced numbers" are also involved. What in the world are "balanced numbers"? Reams computed reserve energy without all the mumbo-jumbo, so it is unrealistic to think that any Jesse-derived reserve energy value could be the same as a Reams-derived value, except by accident.
All of the above is not to say that there is anything truly wrong with an alternate computation system. The point is merely that it is not the same as the Reams system. It may still "work" in the sense that a person could use the Jesse system to decide if they were showing proper improvement.
I still have those seminar notes and I may decide one day to teach people how to perform the calculations. Meanwhile, I am posting a few of the pages for anyone who might be interested to review.
