[Supposedly, this was a 100 bed retreat opened in an unused hospital]
BLUE RIDGE, Georgia
"1973 found Dad traveling once again from place to place as people continued to call him, and he often took LaVerne with him to help with the testing. On a trip to Atlanta, Dad became acquainted with Thurman McCoy, a man who owned and offered him 100 acres in the Blue Ridge Mountains on which to operate a clinic. As soon as Dad saw the place, he and Mom made plans to move. The property was located in the tri-state corner of Georgia, where Tennessee, North Carolina, and Georgia meet."
ROANOKE, Virginia
"As more people across the United States were tested, a greater demand arose for more retreat facilities. In addition to the Blue Ridge Retreat, a new retreat was established in Roanoke, Virginia. Many people there wanted a place closer to them than in Georgia, so Dad purchased a motel, and sent my brother and his wife to oversee the operation."
Murrieta Hot Springs
"Not long after that, a man from California approached my father about starting a retreat there, and he and Dad and several others began the purchase of an entire community that was for sale in the desert not far from Palm Springs, called Murrieta Hot Springs." The sad history, complete with 60 Minutes expose of "Dr." Rudd, can be downloaded below.
