The other side of the coin involves those people such as doctors, pharmacists, scientists, detail men, and drug company owners who profit whenever someone sick, or not sick, fills a prescription. Yes, that profit motive can get to you—if you let it. Honesty can go by the wayside. Ethics can fade away. A conflict of interest that any school kid can identify becomes a blind spot because “everyone else is doing it.”
Here is a link to a story that I suspect is only one of dozens of stories about how big-name MDs can fall by the wayside when they focus too much on making money by pushing drugs. You may want to read the posted comments as well. Comments are a way for readers to give short feedback on how a story touched them. Lincoln said that you can’t fool all the people all the time. It appears a few people are waking up to how they have been fooled by drug pushers posing as respectable doctors. Kudos to Senator Grassley.
